Johnny Logan revealed in Belgium’s version of The Masked Singer

On Friday 4 February, Edelhert had to undergo the unmasking in the Belgian version of The Masked Singer. Red Deer has charmed the Belgian public for four episodes with an exceptionally beautiful voice. When the mask came off, it turned out that the one and only Johnny Logan was underneath. The jury and the public were impressed.

Helmut Lotti? Jasper Steverlinck? No, it’s Johnny Logan

While the audience and the viewers at home were searching pretty much in the right direction already, the jury didn’t seem to realise they are dealing with an international artist in the show. Karen Damen, one of the jurors, mentioned Johnny’s name for the first time since the start of the season. Then the other jurors followed her thought but they also guessed names such as Helmut Lotti and Jasper Steverlinck (two respected Belgian singers). Watch Red Dear’s reveal below.

How Johnny experienced the journey

After each episode has finished, VTM uploads an online episode of “Behind The Mask”. There, the candidates film their journey when preparing for their appearance in the show. They make vlogs of when they get to see their costume, rehearsals on stage, their ways of being invisible for surrounding people and more fun details. Johnny moved to Antwerp for this journey. When he saw his red deer costume for the first time, Johnny showed being impressed but also worried. Singing with such a heavy mask on your head is harder than it looks.

Johnny Logan in the Eurovision Song Contest

Since Eurovision 1987, he still owns the record of winning the contest two times. His winning songs “What’s Another Year” and “Hold Me Now” are two big classics. In addition to his own success, he has put his songwriter talent at the service of Linda Martin. He is behind both ‘Terminal 3’, which came in second in 1984, and ‘Why Me’, which won in 1992.
