12 Xal reports that Nadir Rüstəmli has been announced as Azerbaijan’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. The announcement came in a morning show of the broadcaster İctimai Television.
The 22-year-old The Voice of Azerbaijan winner Nadir Rüstəmli was internally selected to represent Azerbaijan in Turin. In 2021 the singer competed in The Voice and was coached by the Eurovision 2011 winner Eldar Gasimov. During the show, Nadir covered maNga’s Eurovision 2010 entry “We Could Be the Same” and Duncan Laurence‘s winning entry “Arcade” among others.
Around 300 songs were sent during the submission window and six were shortlisted for the selected artist. The chosen song will be revealed later. Azerbaijan will compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Nadir Rüstəmli will perform on the first half of the show on May 12th.
