Back in early February, Michael Ben David won X Factor Israel with “I.M”. Following his win, it was reported that the song would be revamped ahead of the contest. The music video for the revamped version of the song has now been released.
Yesterday, the music video for the revamped version of “I.M”, Israel’s entry for Eurovision 2022, was released via the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel.
The release was accompanied by the following statement:
[Michael has] spoken quite openly on the show about the difficulties he faced as a child, from being bullied at school for singing in a high-pitched voice, to the trouble that his mother initially had accepting him when he came out as gay.
Fittingly, his song I.M is a positive anthem about self-acceptance, and it’s a message that was echoed once more by Michael when speaking with Israeli broadcaster KAN after his The X Factor Israel win: ‘I’m a little shocked. People voted for me and that means they accept me for who I am. This isn’t only for me. This is for so many people.’IPBC/Kan
Israel at Eurovision 2022
Back in February, Michael Ben David won X Factor Israel with “I.M”, beating runner-up Eli Huli with “Blinded Dreamers” by just one point. Later that month, it was announced that Marvin Dietmann will serve as the artistic director for Michael’s performance in Turin.
Israel will compete in the second semifinal of Eurovision 2022. Michael is set to perform on the first half of the show on May 12th.
