On March 17th, the largest Flemish radio and TV stations joined forces together under Ukraine 12-12, the solidarity action for the victims of war in Ukraine. Last evening Belgium’s Eurovision stars Jérémie Makiese and Laura Tesoro performed with The Voice of Ukraine winner Anna Hodorvskaya.
Throughout the day, radio and television channels from VRT, DPG, SBS and Mediahuis were in the spirit of solidarity with the Ukrainians. The broadcasters joined forces under the solidarity action Ukraine 12-12 and were able to gather over 17.7 million euros for Ukraine.
Belgium’s Eurovision 2016 representative Laura Tesoro and Eurovision 2022 representative Jérémie Makiese performed the song “Rise Up”, originally by Andra Day, together with two The Voice winners, Anna Hodorvskaya from The Voice of Ukraine and Grace from The Voice of Flanders. As both Laura Tesoro and Jérémie Makiese also rose to the fame through the singing competition, for this performance the group was named The Voices.
Laura Tesoro represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song “What’s The Pressure” and finished 10th in the final. Jérémie Makiese will represent the country in this year’s contest in Turin with the song “Miss You”. He hopes to qualify to the final from the second semi-final of the contest.
