Rehearsal review

Stage presentation

Considering how well-staged we’ve seen rock entries in the last few years, this feels quite flat. There’s so much darkness here, and the attempts to brighten it up or lighten the performers to stand out come a little too late. Intelligent Music Project have brought a spherical light prop with them and it adds something to the back of the stage.

The band are all very spread apart on stage and at times it feels like each of them are performing as soloists instead of as a cohesive group – with two podiums used left and right of stage. Split-screen camera effects are used to highlight these.

Costumes and styling

This is standard rock song staging: leather jackets, black trousers and the lead singer also has a hat which is discarded after about 30 seconds.

Vocal quality

As expected, the vocals sound exactly like they do on the track itself and they do carry the lyrics across well.

Overall impression

The most effective part of this entry is the colour change to red through the chorus to highlight not ‘being in the safety zone’. Fire pyros have been added to the guitar solo before the last chorus and the yellow lighting to support this is the first time it feels light and bright.

This song is performed as well as the experienced artists possibly can!
