Rehearsal review

Stage presentation

They show a very colourful stage, with images of fruit and veggies in the background, of course! The song is called Eat Your Salad, after all. They show lyrics on the floor, the main words ‘Cool’ and ‘Hot’. It’s a quirky staging that perfectly fits the song and the band who is performing it. The colours of the lights are mainly green (not surprisingly), and lots of camera angles which switch between closer shots of the band, and the whole group together. The lights turn white when the saxophone comes into play, to fully focus on the ‘new epic sax guy’.

Costumes and styling

Remember Iceland 2014? This is them now. Colourful outfits, all in a different colour. Janis is wearing a bright green suit, matching the lights. It is very lovely to watch, and will probably make an impact on viewers.

Vocal quality

Vocally as expected, meaning great. Both singers sing as well as they did in the national final, in which they won the jury vote as well. This could translate to the stage in Turin as well. The opening line feels a little weird at first, missing a certain word, but it’s clear that it’s up to the audience to fill in the blinks. Instead, Janis stays silent and gives an opportunity for the audience to go ‘…wait. Did they just’? Yes, they did.

Overall impression

Colourful, chaotic, super fun! As expected from the song and the band, they bring high energy and good vibes. It’s enjoyable to watch, but a questionable choice to have it following Albania, which is also a high energy song with similar light colours. However, they bring their absolute A-game and look very stylish while doing so.
