The news most of the Eurovision fandom had been expecting has now been confirmed by TV show Happy Days. Eleni Foureira and Chanel will perform together at the MAD Video Music Awards in Greece next month. The annual music show usually hosts a couple of Eurovision artists every year.
Chanel x Eleni Foureira – “SloMo”
The MAD Video Music Awards have taken place every year since 2004. For the past few years, the Greek organisers have been inviting Eurovision stars to take part as well. In Athens, they then perform together with a local singer in a duet version of their Eurovision songs. Previous duos have been Mikolas Josef and Tamta, Luca Hänni and Vangelis Kakouriotis, Poli Genova and Demy and Helena Paparizou and Sergey Lazarev.
For the 2022 edition, it seems Eleni Foureira and Chanel will bring the Spanish and Greek fans what they’ve been craving: A collaboration between the two. Looking at the history of the MAD VMAs, it seems logical that the duo will perform “SloMo” together.
Eurovision pop princesses
Eleni Foureira and Chanel are the pop princesses of Eurovision for their respective countries. “Fuego” reached second place in 2018 and remains to be Cyprus’s best result ever at the Eurovision Song Contest. For Spain, Chanel brought “SloMo” to third place behind the United Kingdom and Ukraine. With that, Chanel achieved Spain’s best result since 1995 when Anabel Conde finished in second place. Her placing even made sure that Chanel received congratulations from the Spanish Royal Family.
The 2022 MAD Video Music Awards will take place at the Faliro Sports Pavilion Arena in Athens on 22nd June. MAD TV will broadcast the show live on Greek television.
