Lena staying true to her sound

In “Looking for love”, we hear Lena the way we’ve been hearing her for about twelve years now. Ever since her immediate Eurovision return in 2011, the songstress has been looking to produce pop songs with a slightly mysterious twist to it. “Looking for love” is no different. That however doesn’t mean that her sound isn’t evolving. The new song sounds more grown up that most of her early material. Her voice still shines through.

Behind the song, we see some familiar names. Lena herself is one of the composers, alongside Beatgees. The German production collective has previously also worked with Laila Samuels (“Afterglow” from MGP), Ann Sophie and Helene Fischer. Furthermore, we see Joe Walter as one of the composers. He previously wrote songs for German stars like Udo Lindenberg, Nico Santos and Max Giesinger, but has also worked with Kristian Kostov. The final composer is Yanek Stärk, who’s released material with Adel Tawil and Mark Forster – also big names in Germany.

From Eurovision to now

Lena is no stranger to the German music scene. She rose to fame on Unser Star für Oslo, the German selection method for Eurovision 2010. From the early stages on, the 18-year old was a favourite to win the show. She eventually defeated Jennifer Braun in the superfinal and went to Norway. There, she brought Germany their second only victory at Eurovision with “Satellite”. Upon landing in Germany, she and her mentor Stefan Raab expressed a desire for Lena to defend her title the following year. NDR listened to their wishes and Lena represented Germany again 2011. “Taken By A Stranger” was a completely new sound and finished in tenth place.

Ever since, Lena has been a big name in Germany. All of her albums have at least reached #2 in the charts and stayed in there for a minimum of eighteen weeks. Since 2020, she’s been married to Mark Forster, also a German musician who’s had loads of success.
