Ireland confirm Eurovision 2023 participation

It is unknown whether RTร‰ will organise another national selection or return to an internal selection for 2023.

RTร‰, the Irish Eurovision broadcaster, has confirmed their participation for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. They have yet to confirm how their entry will be selected.

Earlier this week, RTร‰ confirmed to ESCToday that Ireland will compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in the United Kingdom.

This year, they selected their entry via a national final which took place as a special edition of The Late Late Show. “That’s Rich” was their first publicly-selected entry since 2015.

It is unknown whether RTร‰ will organise another national selection or return to an internal selection for 2023.

Irelandย at the Eurovision Song Contest

Ireland debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965 and has won the competition a record 7 timesย  (1970, 1980, 1988, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996). However, since the introduction of the public vote and the semi-finals, Ireland has struggled to reach the same heights.

Brooke represented Ireland at this yearโ€™s contest in Turin with โ€œThatโ€™s Richโ€. Unfortunately, she did not qualify, placing 15th in the second semi-final with 47 points. This marked Ireland’s third consecutive non-qualification.
