LRT confirm Pabandom iš naujo 2023
Pabandom iš naujo will return as the Lithuanian selection process for the fourth consecutive year. Due to start in early January and consist of five shows, exact dates will be announced in the coming months. Overall at least 20 songs are expected to compete across two heats, two Semi-Finals and one Grand Final. Although this will depend on the amount of songs received. Once again the results within each live show will only be shown at the conclusion of the broadcast.
The song submission window remains open until December 12. The artists must be Lithuanian citizens, however, songwriters can be of any nationality. Only one song per act – whether the artist(s) is a solo or a group performer, will advance to the live shows. LRT may also consult with the songwriters with regards to the performers of the submissions. As well as this, financial support from the broadcaster will be offered to each proposal.
Every year, the Eurovision Song Contest unites and gathers people in front of television screens throughout Lithuania, Europe and even the world. This is not only an important tradition, but also a unique opportunity to show this huge audience the work of Lithuanian music artists, who we are most proud of within the country.
In recent years, in order to further raise the bar for the quality of the Eurovision national selection, we have provided support to the contestants. We will continue this, because we hope that in the selections we will see and hear both artists who attract full arenas and talented artists who are even less heard by the Lithuanian audience.

Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest
Back in 1994 Lithuania made their Eurovision debut in Dublin with Ovidijus Vyšniauskas and his entry, ‘Lopšinė mylimai‘, which placed 25th and last with the dreaded nil points. After a brief hiatus and sporadic appearances for the next decade, Lithuania have participated in every contest since 2004. Their best result came in 2006 with the entry, ‘We Are The Winners‘ by LT United. Despite not actually winning, the group achieved sixth place with 162 and remain a novelty classic.
Last year the Lithuanian public chose Monika Liu and ‘Sentimentai’ through Pabandom iš naujo 2022. During the Turin contest she qualified for the Grand Final and placed 14th with 128 points.
