Pesma za Evroviziju 23
With national finals season well underway, there have been many updates from numerous Eurovision nations recently. This week, dates of Pesma za Evroviziju 23, the Serbian national selection were officially confirmed.
The Head of Entertainment at the Serbian national broadcaster RTS, Mrs. Olivera Kovačević, confirmed that the Serbian selection will take place in early March. Once again, the national final will consist of two Semi-Finals and a Grand Final. The dates of the shows are as follows:
- Semi-Final One: March 1
- Semi-Final Two: March 2
- Grand Final: March 4
RTS opened submissions at the start of the Eurovision season on September 1, and extended the submission deadline from mid-November until December 1. In that time, 200 songs were submitted to RTS. Whilst we do not yet have a date as to when we will hear the final selection of songs Serbia will choose to compete in Pesma za Evroviziju 23, Kovačević did reveal to RTS that a list of participants may be revealed as early as January, but this is still to be confirmed.
Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest
Serbia has participated a total of 14 times as an independent nation since 2007, and they have since scored three top 5 results. This includes a win in 2007 with Marija Šerifović’s “Molitva”, as well as when Željko Joksimović placed third in 2012 with his song “Nije ljubav stvar”.
In 2022, Konstrakta won Pesma za Evroviziju with her highly engaging performance of “In corpore sano”. She placed 5th and received a total of 312 points in the Grand Final. The song has since gained significant popularity, placing 12th in the 2022 edition of ESC250. In addition, the song has also amassed over 9.9 million streams on Spotify, and her Pesma za Evroviziju performance of the song has over 17 million streams on YouTube.
