Only days after the host city reveal and the start of the new Eurovision year, we have our first artist for Eurovision 2025 in Basel: it’s Theo Evan for Cyprus!
Cypriot broadcaster RIK announced previously that they were specifically looking for an artist based in Cyprus for the coming year. Theo Evan (real name Evangelos Theodorou) was born and raised in Nicosia and has been singing and dancing from the age of 7. He started writing his own songs as a teenager. Growing up, he participated in dancing competitions, sang in the school choir, and performed in musicals. After his graduation from The English School in Nicosia, Theo moved to the US to study music and performance at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. After his studies, he moved to Los Angeles, before returning to his hometown of Nicosia. In 2021, he released his first single, “The Wall”. Other singles include “SAVE ME FROM MYSELF” and “Dark Side”. Theo has also appeared on HBO’s Euphoria (season 2, episode 7). He cites Michael Jackson as his biggest musical inspiration.
Theo’s song for Eurovision has already been written, and will be revealed at a later date. Cyprus’ best result at Eurovision so far was in 2018, when Eleni Foureira reached second place with “Fuego”. Most recently, Cyprus reached 15th place with Silia Kapsis’ “Liar”.
