Artem Kotenko to Represent Ukraine at Junior Eurovision 2024

Artem Kotenko has been chosen to represent Ukraine at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Madrid with his song “Dim” (Home).

The Ukrainian national selection took place on Sunday, September 22, with six young artists competing for the chance to fly the Ukrainian flag in Madrid. The event was hosted by Anna Trincher, Anna Tulyeva, and Timur Miroshnychenko.

The final result was determined by a combination of jury and online voting, each accounting for 50% of the total score. The jury panel included:

  • ROXOLANA, a singer and participant in Vidbir 2022
  • Andrii Hutsuliak, producer and representative of Ukraine as part of TVORCHI at Eurovision 2023
  • Vitaly Drozdov, general producer of TAVR Media

Artem Kotenko and his song “Dim” tied with Zlata Ivaniv’s “Namysto” (Necklace) at 11 points each. However, Artem emerged as the winner due to being the audience’s favorite in the online vote.

  3. Anastasiia Bielibova – “Unbelievable” – 8 points (Jury: 4, Online: 4)

  5. Illia Konovchenko (ILKO) – “SPACESHIP” – 4 points (Jury: 2, Online: 2)
  6. Anhelina Hlohus – “Plachut’ yanholy” – 2 points (Jury: 1, Online: 1)

The evening also featured guest performances. Anastasiya Dymyd, who represented Ukraine at Junior Eurovision 2023, performed an orchestral version of her entry “Kvtika” alongside the Ukrainian Radio Symphony Orchestra. TVORCHI, Ukraine’s representatives at Eurovision 2023, debuted their new single “dubidu” from their upcoming album “Planet X”. Anna Trincher, a Junior Eurovision 2015 alumna and co-host of the night, also took the stage to perform her song “Ochi”.

As a special highlight, all the finalists joined Svitlana Tarabarova, the music producer for the national selection, in a group performance of “Pure and Beautiful.”

Artem Kotenko now has the opportunity to represent Ukraine at Junior Eurovision 2024, marking the country’s 19th appearance in the competition. Ukraine’s best result at the contest came in 2012 when Anastasiya Petryk won with her song “Nebo.” The country also finished as runner-up in 2008 and 2013.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place in Madrid on Saturday, November 16, where Artem will hope to bring Ukraine its second victory in the competition.
