One nice thing about having Luxembourg back is the extra opportunity to have fun French songs in the contest again, and Laura Thorn has absolutely risen to the occasion here. ‘La poupée monte le son’ is bouncy, staccato and fun and just a delight to listen through from beginning to end. If picked, it would be a very positive spot in the Eurovision lineup and its call back to Luxembourg’s 1965 winning entry by France Gall would make a fantastic homage for Luxembourg to make on their second year back.

Stars are aligning for Laura, and the next star in line is the LSC victory, which she could reasonnably get.
Her song, a tribute to France Gall, is catchy and memorable, the most memorable one in this lineup – a lineup which remains of a very good overall quality, meaning “La Poupée Monte Le Son” is not just “better” than the rest. The “stripped” production (in terms of instrumentals) is not something we’re used to hear much at Eurovision, but I don’t think it should be a handicap, especially when it comes as part of the overall tribute to France Gall and this 1960’s era.
