The national broadcaster of Azerbaijan, Ictimai TV has confirmed that Mamagama will represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 taking place in Basel, Switzerland this May.
Mamagama will represent Azerbaijan in Basel
Once again, Azerbaijan have opted for an internal selection to confirm its act for Eurovision 2025. After going through 154 submissions, Ictimai TV have announced that X will be taking to the stage this May in Basel. In a surprise to everyone, Azerbaijan have not only opted for an earlier announcement than usual, but also in revealing that for the first time, the country will be represented by a group.
Flying from Baku to Basel will be, Mamagama who will announce their song in late February. The electropop band have history with the contest after previously trying to represent the nation in 2023 with the entry, ‘River’. Not afraid of live music competitions, the band formed in 2022 have also taken part in Albania’s second famous music festival, Kënga Magjike. In the 2022 edition, they place fourth with, ‘Dreamer’ and received the award for Best International New Artist. The band are comprised of three members – Safael Mishiev, Bahruz Afandiyev and Allahverdi Gumbatli.
Last year, Azerbaijan were represented by Fahree and Ilkin Dovlatov with the song ‘Özünlə apar’. Marking the first time Azerbaijan had performed in their native language. The duo sadly did not make it to the Grand Final, placing 14th out of 15 acts in the first Semi-Final.
