Marina Satti to perform at Eurovision 2025 in Basel

A few days ago, Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR announced that Marina Satti, from Greece will perform as a guest act during Eurovision 2025 in Basel. Although it has not been confirmed yet, she will likely perform in the second semi-final.

The announcement came after many others, including the presence of Destiny (Malta 2020/2021), Efendi (Azerbaijan 2020/2021), The Roop (Lithuania 2020/2021) and Gjon’s Tears (Switzerland 2020/2021).

Although Gjon’s Tears has been confirmed as a guest act for the first semi-final (and has recently teased an appearance in the final), which will be themed around Switzerland’s history with Eurovision, it has been confirmed by The Roop that they will perform in the second semi-final. It is very likely the same case for Destiny and Efendi, which pointed at a potential tribute acts for the songs of the cancelled 2020 contest. The Roop confirmed that they will perform “On Fire”, and Destiny heavily implied she would sing “All Of My Love”.

The second semi-final is themed around “Eurovision fans” and artists, and the final, around “Eurovision winners”. Marina being neither a winner nor a Swiss representative, she will likely perform in the second semi-final, either along the previously named 2020 singers, or as part of another introduction or interval act.

Interestingly, although she will likely perform her 2024 entry for Greece, she revealed on May 5that she recorded a Greek version of “Saudade, Saudade”, the 2022 Portuguese entry, called “Fovame”. Could we be in store for a mix-up of songs and artists as we saw in the 2019 Grand Final in Tel-Aviv?

Marina Satti famously took part in Eurovision last year, with the song “Zari”, with which she ended up in 11th place. Her performance was noticeable, as the first two minutes of the song were filmed in a single take, something that the delegation had teased beforehand.

What do you think Marina will sing in Basel? Did you expect her to make a comeback as a guest artist? Tell us more in the comments below, or on social media at @escxtra! And stay tuned for our live coverage, starting on the ground on May 10 in Basel!
