A few days ago, Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR announced that Destiny, from Malta will perform as a guest act during Eurovision 2025 in Basel. Although it has not been confirmed yet, she will likely perform “All Of My Love” in the second semi-final.
From Basel with “All Of My Love”?
The announcement was made a few days ago, by the host broadcaster, on Instagram.
It is likely that Destiny will perform in the second semi-final, which has been described by SRG SSR as being focused on “Eurovision fans”. She would join The Roop (Lithuania) and Efendi (Azerbaijan), who also represented their countries in Eurovision 2020 and 2021.
SRG SSR has not yet confirmed when Efendi would perform, but many believe that the second semi-final interval act may include a “Eurovision 2020 reunion medley”, with artists from 2020 finally performing their songs on the Eurovision stage. So far, only Diodato had that honour, as an interval act in Turin, in 2022. The fact that she states “Sending all of my love”
Destiny, a Eurovision champion and favourite
Destiny represented Malta in Eurovision 2020 and 2021, but she also took part in Junior Eurovision in 2015, when she won the contest with “Not My Soul”.
She later won Malta’s X-Factor to represent her country at Eurovision 2020. Her song “All Of My Love” was not seen as a favourite to win, but Malta was still 8th in the odds before the cancellation of the contest, and was seen as a contender for a strong jury position. It was a product of the Symphonix International team of Borislav Milanov, which had written entries such as “If Love Was a Crime”, “Beautiful Mess” and “Nobody But You”, all of which had reached their respective year’s top 5.
Maltese broadcaster PBS quickly confirmed that Destiny would be back in 2021, and organised songwriting camps to find her a new entry. That process ended up with her singing “Je Me Casse” in Rotterdam.
Compared to “All Of My Love”, “Je Me Casse” was a more upbeat, flashy, and funny entry. It was a feminist anthem, very much echoing the #MeToo movement that had risen in the previous few years. During the season, Destiny ended up being the leader in the bookmaker’s ranking, but the 2021 contest remained very uncertain with no clear favourite until the rehearsals. She ended up 6th in the Grand Final, and third with the juries.
