Montenegro confirms participation in Eurovision 2026

As preparations get underway for Vienna’s hosting of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 next May, Montenegro’s national broadcaster, RTCG become the latest to confirm their participation.

Following Montenegro’s Eurovision comeback in 2025, RTCG the national broadcaster has confirmed their return. Montesong 2025 will be used to select the act that will represent the Balkan nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 taking place in Vienna, Austria next May. During a recent board meeting, the broadcaster confirmed the rules for the upcoming selection.

  • Songs must not have been published or performed before September 1
  • Songs must adhere to the current rules of Eurovision
  • Citizens of Montenegro must be the performer
  • Songwriters may be of any nationality
  • A maximum of two songs per songwriter may be submitted

After the closure of submissions a selection committee will review the applications on three areas. These will add up to 100 points in total and consist of – composition (50), lyrics (30) and production potential (20). Only songs that achieve 75 points or more will be considered for the live national final. Up to sixteen entries will be chosen to take part in Montesong 2025. The broadcaster reserves the right to change the performer of any song and to revert to an internal selection if the standards are not met.
