Eurovision is here! Delegations are now in Vienna and every semi-finalist has rehearsed once since Saturday. Today was the second day of second rehearsals, with most of the first semi-finalists rehearsing during shorter slots of 20m. The Eurovision socials accounts have been publishing the traditional second rehearsal videos, which are short extracts of the TV feed from each performance. The Eurovision website has also released new pictures for each rehearsal.
🇦🇲 Armenia – SIMÓN – Second rehearsal
Check out our notes on the first rehearsal.
Simón sends us hurtling with a high impact routine set in an out of control office elevator really suiting the manic nature of Paloma Rumba. Armenia over the years have sent very polished performances to Eurovision over the years and this is another one! Sharp, tight choreography (it needs to be to fit in the elevator) and even sharper costuming, the post it notes will surely make you remember to pick up the phone and vote to get Armenia hurtling – like the elevator into the Saturday showcase final.
🇨🇭 Switzerland – Veronica Fusaro – Second rehearsal
Check out our notes on the first rehearsal.
Veronica becomes one with her song and staging with the red strings resembling veins and arteries to give her the oxygen she needs to power up her pop-rock song and send her energy coursing through her into her electric guitar amping up this anthemic song to new highs. The leather clad backing dancers gives the performance that sensual edge that’s gives the whole thing a unique feel.
🇨🇾 Cyprus – Antigoni – Second rehearsal
Check out our notes on the first rehearsal.
Cyprus + Female + Ethic sounds = Winning formula, and this continues with Antigoni being all sultry dancing on a table will sure stick in the memory of the viewers and juries. She commands a brilliant stage presence with a fantastic relationship with the camera. The use of warm lighting really ramps up the Mediterranean seductive nature of the song.
🇱🇻 Latvia – Atvara – Second rehearsal
Check out our notes on the first rehearsal.
With a siren-esque voice of course she’ll cut glass and send the shards spiralling in a captivating beautiful performance. Them shards also reflecting her diamond clad classic black dress gives the whole production a high-spec luxury feel that is reflected in that vocal. The shards will surely cut deep to the juries and televote alike. Very much amped up from her Supernova performance.
🇩🇰 Denmark – Søren Torpegaard Lund – Second rehearsal
Check out our notes on the first rehearsal.
Masculine, confident and sexy. Søren is a superstar in leather trousers and a fishnet bejewelled top wrapped up by a crisp white shirt to give this song a superbly classy edge. The class is revved up with a brilliant dance routine all in sync and moving as one. Any award show would kill to have a performance like this grace their stage. Nothing has changed from the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix performance and it didn’t need to because it’s evident for all to see why this is a favourite to win that converted crystal microphone come the end of the 16th May.
