The Cypriot broadcaster CyBC have confirmed their representative for JESC 2026. Later this year Harry Georgiou will take to the stage in Ta’ Qali, Malta.
🇨🇾 Harry Georgiou selected for Cyprus
Once again, Cyprus have opted for an internal selection to find its Junior Eurovision 2026 representative. Following a competitive audition process featuring 145 applicants that met the criteria, 45 were chosen to audition in person at the CyBC studios in Nicosia. 13-year-old Harry Georgiou stood out as the winning candidate to represent the Mediterranean island.
Already a natural performer, Harry brings West End experience to the Junior Eurovision stage. So far Harry has had roles in Les Misérables and Elf The Musical, whilst juggling studies at the Platinum Performing Arts School in London.
So far, he is the seventh act to be chosen for the upcoming Junior Eurovision 2026 taking place in Malta on October 24. More details on the internally selected entry will be announced in the coming weeks.
Cyprus in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Back in 2003, Cyprus made their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. After a difficult debut, placing 14th with Theodora Rafti’s ‘Mia efhi‘, the Mediterranean island remained undeterred and achieved three top 10 placements over the next six years. Their best result came in 2004 with Marios Tofi’s ‘Oneira‘ which placed in eighth and earned 61 points.
Following an extended break, Cyprus returned to the contest for three more years, before withdrawing once again on the back of poor results for the broadcaster. This included their one and only last place result for Nicole Nicolaou’s ‘I Wanna Be A Star‘ in 2017. Cyprus returned to the competition again in 2024. Last year Cyprus selected Rafaella and Christos, with ‘Away’ which placed 16th and earned a total of 50 points.
