Comer City withdraws Eurovision 2026 hosting bid

After JJ’s victory in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, numerous Austrian cities are declaring their interest to be the host city for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. After initial interest in submitting a bid, Comer City has now withdrawn from the process.

‘Comer City’ in Ebreichsdorf withdraws proposal

Back in May, Comer City in Ebreichsdorf announced ambitious plans to bring the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 to the horse racing community. The racing track, owned by the brothers Luke and Brian Comer, had planned capacity of 20,000 seats, as well as an additional capacity of 30,000 for a public viewing. In addition, the location would provide space for 1,500 press representatives. Plans to create a roof and walls around the venues and seats were revealed on Monday, 26 May.

Despite showing clear commitment to the bid and ongoing talks with local representatives about the bid, Comer City has now revealed it has withdrawn its bid. Among the issues are the short timeframe and the ORF regulations. ORF stipulates that only municipalities can submit hosting bids, not private investors.

“The official application has been submitted, but only the municipality of Ebreichsdorf can submit the application. The lead time for decision-making in the most varied committees is considered too short notice.”

Siegmund Kahlbacher, (Managing Director of Comer City)
