Burgas declares interest in hosting Eurovision 2027

After DARA’s victory in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, numerous Bulgarian cities are declaring their interest to be the host city for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. Next to consider a bid is the Bulgarian city of Burgas hoping to offer their location as the home of Bulgaria’s first Eurovision hosting.

Next May the contest will take place in Bulgaria following DARA’s victory with, ‘Bangaranga’. In the aftermath, BNT confirmed the bidding process will commence in the coming days. The focus will be on venue suitability, proximity of the nearest airport and infrastructure. One of the early cities to throw its name in the Eurovision 2027 hosting ring is Burgas. It is the fourth largest city of Bulgaria, with a population of roughly 225,000.

Speaking on social media in Bulgaria, the Mayor of Burgas has proposed his city as a contender to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. Mayor Dimitar Nikolov highlighted the willingness of his city to take on the challenge. The city, located on the Black Sea coast is a popular tourist destination. Many sun seekers will be familiar with the Sunny Beach resort.

“I know that Sofia will be a great host, but I declare Burgas’s categorical desire to host! We will do our best to make it perfect! And it will be!”

The newly-built Arena Burgas in 2023 boasts a capacity of 15,000. This puts Burgas firmly in contention as a contender alongside the capital city of Sofia. The required EBU minimum capacity is 10,000.
