Luxembourg PM commits to Eurovision 2027 participation

The Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Luc Frieden has revealed his country will have a representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 taking place in Bulgaria next May.

Making the announcement in the Chamber of Deputies, the Luxembourg PM has formally declared interest in Luxembourg’s continued participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Answering a question directed by the Democratic Party (DP), Luc Frieden expressed his desire to see the nation represented on the Eurovision stage. Maintaining the cultural presence and visibility of Luxembourg to the wider world.

Frieden reminded the chamber that participation ensures an opportunity to showcase its music industry and talented artists on an international level. As well as this, Frieden also expressed a commitment to retain the national selection, Luxembourg Song Contest. With discussions already underway on how to support local talent for the next edition. “It is important to ensure that this truly gives a boost to Luxembourgish singers.”

According to Frieden, government support will once again be available for the 2027 edition and its participation in Bulgaria next May. There are still organisational, artistic, and financial questions to be addressed by the working group, but the PM is confident that a resolution can be found.

Initially, the Grand Duchy’s government set a condition for Luxembourg’s return to the contest in 2024 on a three-year cycle, expiring in 2026. This was not dependent on results in the contest.

Earlier this year, Eva Marija won the Luxembourg Song Contest 2026 with, ‘Mother Nature’. During the Vienna contest, Luxembourg failed to advance to the Grand Final. ‘Mother Nature’ placed 12th in the second Semi-Final.
