Interview and competition: María confesses, “I expected Frikki would win”

María Ólafsdóttir is the Söngvakeppnin winner for 2015 and representative for Iceland at Eurovision in Vienna. Straight after her victory in Reykjavík, a rather shell-shocked María spoke with escXtra’s Simon in the green room. She confesses she expected Friðrik Dor to win the superfinal, but after her surprise win, how is she feeling about a TV audience of 100 million?

To enter the competition, send an email to [email protected] by 23:59 on Tue 17 Feb 2015 with the subject: Söngvakeppnin. Give your name and full address, and the Reykjavík postcard signed by María could be on its way to you Wednesday morning, if you’re picked at random from the entries.
In advance of Iceland’s national final, we spoke to María about her background and her song.
(And yes I know I meant 300 times bigger – not 30! Apologies for my geo-numeric error. I blame the complimentary wine; takk fyrir to RÚV.)

Update 18/02: Congratulations to Sergi Solvas Sanchez in Spain who has won – the postcard is on its way to you from the frozen north!
