“If Love Was a Crime” was the last song to be revealed in any form for the 2016 National Final season, now we’re rewarded with our patience with a performance of the song at the London Eurovision Party 2016 from Bulgarian representative Poli Genova!
Poli Genova is an artist and lead singer with many talents. She performs equally well on TV and on the music and theatre stage. She is no stranger to the Eurovision Family of Events: In 2011, she represented Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf with her song Na Inat, and in 2015 she hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Poli Genova started singing at the age of four at the popular Bulgarian children’s music group Bon-Bon and later helped establish their label. She studied clarinet at a musical school in Sofia and then film directing at the Bulgarian National Academy for Theatrical and Film Arts.
X Factor, Dancing with the Stars, BG TOP 40, The Magnificient Six, I Can Do That, Your face sounds familiar – the list of popular TV formats she in which she has participated in Bulgaria goes on and on. Most notably, she won the first place in the reality musical format Musical Academy.
Together with Bon-Bon, Poli Genova is active in numerous charity campaigns in Bulgaria including for UNICEF and SOS Children’s Villages, Awareness for Autism campaign and Bulgarian Christmas campaign, supported by the Bulgarian President, and AVON campaign against the breast cancer.
Poli currently takes part in three musicals and she is also the Bulgarian voice of Judy Hoops in the new Disney film Zootropolis.
