Eleni Foureira performs “Fuego” live in Athens

As one of the last artists this year, Eleni Foureira has performed her entry for the Eurovision Song Contest live for the very first time. During a Eurovision concert last night in Athens, “Fuego” had its live premiere.

Constantinos and Eleni Foureira

The concert took place last night at Shamone Club in Athens. It was the sixth time the club in the Greek capital hosted a Eurovision party ahead of the contest. On social media, they announced Constantinos Christofourou as their headline act. He would however bring some special guests.

One of the guests turned out to be the Cypriot entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. Eleni Foureira made an appearance and performed her “Fuego” live in front of the excited crowd. The event was attended by three other former Eurovision entrants. Helena Paparizou famously won the contest back in 2005, but also came third with Antique in 2001. She performed her “Die For You” together with Constantinos. Evridiki participated in Eurovision no less than three times, in 1992, 1994 and 2007. The final Eurovision diva was 1991 entrant Sofia Vossou. Shamone Club released a recap video of last night’s party.

Foureira for Cyprus

The participation of Eleni Foureira at the Eurovision Song Contest is not an unexpected one. After taking part in the Greek national final for Oslo in 2010, the singer often said her dream would be to take part in Eurovision. Back in July 2017, the singer expressed her desire to represent her country Greece in Lisbon. However, at the end of January it became clear that Cyprus would be the country Foureira would be representing. She will take part in the first semifinal, where she will hope to make it a third final in a row for Cyprus.
