In the middle of the entire Eurovision Song Contest circus, there is some exciting Junior Eurovision news. This year’s contest will see a débutant. The Welsh broadcaster S4C has their eyes set on a Minsk début.
Search started
Welsh broadcaster S4C announced the news on Twitter. They will be looking for a singer to take part at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the very first time. Their format will be called “Chwilio am Seren”. In English, that translates as “Search for a Star”. S4C launched their website for the national final just now.
The Welsh national final will consist of six young talents hoping to fly the Welsh flag at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The requirement S4C are making is that their act will sing in Welsh in Minsk as well.
Welsh flag
The broadcaster will not compete under the flag of the United Kingdom. Instead, S4C have opted to solely represent Wales. The United Kingdom have previously taken part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, but they withdrew years ago.
It is yet unknown whether other parts of the United Kingdom will now also be allowed to compete as separate entries.
