🇮🇪 RTÉ to reveal Ireland’s Eurovision 2020 act on March 5th

First play on RTÉ 2FM's Breakfast with Doireann and Eoghan

RTÉ will reveal Ireland’s entry for Eurovision Song Contest 2020 on March 5th at RTÉ 2FM’s Breakfast with Doireann and Eoghan. The next day the Irish artist will perform the song on The Late Late Show.

Earlier it was confirmed that director Phillip McMahon is the Creative Director for Ireland’s Eurovision 2020 entry. Dublin based choreographer and dance artist Philip Connaughton will be the choreographer for the performance in Rotterdam.

Ireland chose their artist and song internally, like in the past three years. Among the rumoured names are ELM and Lesley Roy. The creative director Phillip McMahon says that the song is new direction for Ireland.

What I kind of thought when hearing the song is that in 10 years’ time we will still be dancing to this song. I think we’re up there [with Loreen’s Euphoria]! I think this is a new direction for Ireland. We haven’t heard this style of song and the act is just bloody cool.

I started watching Eurovision back in 2006, when I was only 10 and couldn't stay up to see Lordi winning. I attended my first contest in 2013 in Malmö and been to all the contests ever since. I'm studying journalism and I love music — you will probably never see me without my headphones on.
