๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท Turkey will not debut at Junior Eurovision in 2020

They last took part in a Eurovision contest in 2012

Turkish broadcaster TRT has confirmed to Eurofestivales that they will not make a debut at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Warsaw. They join many other countries – including Wales and Australia who both took part last year – in not taking part in the contest.

The broadcaster stated that TRT currently has no plans to take part in any Eurovision contests. Turkey last took part in a Eurovision contest in 2012, when Can Bonomo represented the nation in Baku at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Junior Eurovision 2020 โ€“ what we know so far

Junior Eurovision 2020 is to be held on November 29 in the Polish capital of Warsaw. The slogan for the show is โ€˜Move The Worldโ€™. Following Viki Gaborโ€™s victory on home soil in 2019, this will mark TVPโ€™s second consecutive time hosting.

Note, unlike previous years, the show is due to be held in a TV studio, rather than an arena. The venue itself is yet to be confirmed, and will either be ATM Studio or Transcolor Studio.

To date, the following countries have confirmed participation in the contest:

Last year, Viki Gabor won the contest with “Superhero”. Who will win the contest this year? It won’t be Turkey, for sure!

Would you like to see Turkey debut at the contest soon? Are you hoping more countries confirm their participation soon?

I'm the youngest member of the team here at ESCXTRA but that doesn't mean I know the least about the contest. You'll usually find me enjoying a Eurovision classic, while discovering new facts about Eurovision history. When I'm not doing that, I'll be somewhere on a dancefloor... still thinking about music!
