🇷🇴 Romanian singer-songwriter wrs expresses interest in entering Eurovision

By the end of March, it was confirmed that Roxen will be back to represent Romania at next year’s Eurovision. However, wrs, who is under the same label as Roxen, has recently expressed his interest in competing in the near future.

“Why not”

On Monday night, wrs held a Q&A with his fans on Instagram. One of the questions asked was “Would you ever like to enter Eurovision?” to which he answered:

Who is wrs?

Andrei Ursu, otherwise known as wrs, was born in Romania in 1993. It’s clear that the entertainment industry runs through his family, as both of his parents used to be folk dancers. wrs himself started out as a backup dancer for other artists.

In 2015, he became a member of the boy group SHOT, who had hits such as “Buza de jos” and “Inevitabil”. 2 years later, he left the group and moved to London to work on his songwriting skills. It all paid off eventually, as he signed with Global Records in January this year and released his debut single “why”.

wrs has released another 3 singles since then, the latest being “la răsărit”.

Romania in Eurovision 2020

Roxen was internally selected to represent Romania this year. Although the contest ended up being cancelled, TVR confirmed she will return to perform in Rotterdam in 2021. Roxen was meant to perform “Alcohol You”, which was selected by the Romanian public and national jury.
