Now it’s official: Russia is going to take part in Eurovision 2021!
Channel One, one of the main national broadcasters in Russia, was responsible for the Russian entry this year, however, the pandemic changed many plans for Eurovision. Nevertheless, the broadcaster takes the challenge again for 2021 and confirms Russia is going to take part in Eurovision next year.
Later we will find out if Russia invites Little Big back or gives a chance to shine to someone else. Stay tuned till the official statement is out!
Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest
Russia’s first appearance at the Eurovision happened in 1994 when Youddiph represented the country with her song “Vechni Stranik (Eternal Wanderer)”.
Currently Russia has only one trophy won by Dima Bilan at the Eurovision 2008 in Belgrade. However, most entries were quite successful and reached the top 5 numerous times. Europe had a chance to discover Sergey Lazarev, Polina Gagarina and many other Russian singers and bands.
In 2020 Little Big band were internally selected to represent Russia with their song “Uno”. Even though they weren’t able to perform live at the Eurovision stage, the music video went viral and became the most viewed one on the Eurovision YouTube channel! Moreover, it was announced the entry is featured in Just Dance 2021.
