According to Swedish tabloid outlet Aftonbladet, Jessica Andersson, Klara Hammarström and Alvaro Estrella are all due to return to the Swedish Eurovision national final. This follows earlier reports that seem to suggest that last year’s victors The Mammas and runner up and fellow fan favourite Dotter are also going to return. These are in addition to already confirmed act Julia Alfrida who won the P4 Nästa ticket earlier this year.
A brief history
All three of Jessica, Klara and Alvaro have all had MelFest and Eurovision history.
Jessica Andersson
Very much a fan favourite, Jessica has already flown the yellow and blue nordic cross. As part of the duet Fame, she won MelFest with the sone “Give Me All Of Your Love”. They flew to Riga, Latvia where she finished in fifth place with 107 points.
In 2010 she finished eighth with the song “I Did It For Love” and in 2015 she came eleventh with “Can’t Hurt Me Now”. In 2018 she sang “Party Voice”, the song is now a staple for any Eurovision party with it’s Disco and traditional Schlager sound. She finished eleventh once again.
Klara Hammarström
Klara competed in 2020 alongside Dotter and The Mammas. She entered with the electro-pop song “Nobody”. Despite coming in fifth in her semi final, she’s a bit of a breakout star, with many fans internationally and in Sweden thinking she deserved a lot more. She was voted for very highly umong the younger demographics.
Alvaro Estrella
Alvaro made his debut in 2014 with the song “Bedroom” with the entry not progressing past the deltävlings. In 2020 he returned with Mendez with the song “Vamos Amigos”. They qualified from the semifinals as one of the top two. Subsequently they finished in eleventh place in the final.
Alvaro is also a dancer having been a backing dancer for Eric Saade’s 2011 Swedish entry “Popular” and Sweden’s 2017 entry “I Can’t Go On” by Robin Bengtsson. He’s also been used internationally as a backing singer-dancer. Once for Azerbaijan in 2013 for “Hold On” and in 2016 for Russia for “You Are The Only One”.
