San Marino’s Eurovision 2021 representative Senhit has already entertained us with Eurovision covers of ‘Cheesecake‘ and ‘Everyway That I Can‘, ‘Ding-A-Dong‘, and ‘Congratulations‘ as she navigates her way to her participation for 2021.
For the sixth instalment of her #FreakyTriptoRotterdam, Senhit’s brings us something different, as she covers Conchita Wurst’s ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’, which won the competition back in 2014.
A tribute to Freddie Mercury
Upon the release of her cover of ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’ she spoke to Eurovision fan website Wiwibloggs about the theme of the video:
With this project I want to talk about the value of freedom of expression, to reflect on the rights of human beings without distinction.
Throughout the video, we see Senhit pay tribute to Freddie Mercury, who was the main vocalist of Queen, up until his death in 1991.
Don’t forget to stick around, as Senhit is set to release the sixth entry to her #FreakyTriptoRotterdam on December 1.
Senhit at the Eurovision Song Contest
In 2011, Senhit represented San Marino in Düsseldorf (as Senit), with the song ‘Stand By‘. Unfortunately, she failed to qualify for the Grand Final when she placed 16th in the semi-final.
Nearly ten years on, Senhit announced her return to the Eurovision Song Contest. After an online-vote, it was announced that she will be singing ‘Freaky’. Despite the cancellation of the 2020 contest, it was announced that Senhit will represent San Marino at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.
