🇷🇴 Roxen reveals she has chosen her 2021 Eurovision entry

When the Eurovision Song Contest was cancelled in 2020, most of the broadcasters opted to select their 2020 acts for 2021. One of the participating broadcasters choosing to do this was Romania, when they chose to send Roxen once again for 2021.

Since then, Roxen has been releasing a few singles, such as ‘How to Break a Heart, and ‘Wonderland’, in which she collaborated with Eurovision 2009 winner Alexander Rybak.

However, since the announcement, that she will be representing Romania at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, Roxen has been quietly working on her entry. With the year now in full swing, she has given us an update.

‘Focused on finding the perfect song for Eurovision 2021’

During the start of the year, Roxen has been idle on social media. Recently, she has explained the reason for her absence.

In the same post, she explained that she was hard at work, looking for the song that she will be singing at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, and it seems that she has found it!. She also took the time to thank the team she is working with.

At the time of writing, TVR, nor Global Records is yet to confirm how/when Roxen will be revealing her entry for the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.

Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest

Romania first debuted at Eurovision back in 1994 with Dan Bittman, who finished in 21st place with 14 points. After failing to qualify in 1996, the country returned in 1998, finishing 22nd. Since 2002, they have never missed a contest and throughout their history enjoyed good results and qualification rates. However, they have yet to win the contest.

So far, their best result is the 3rd place achieved twice in 2005 by Luminita and Sistem in Kyiv and in 2010 by Ovi and Paula Seling in Oslo. In more recent years, they broke their qualification streak in 2018, when The Humans finished 11th with 107 points in the second semi-final.

In 2020, Romania internally selected ‘Roxen’ to represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest. A national final took place to then select ‘Alcohol You’ as her entry. Despite the cancellation of the contest, TVR decided to send Roxen once again for the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.
