The Norwegian broadcaster NRK has revealed how the voting is set to happen in the final of Melodi Grand Prix 2021 final this Saturday. The final will consists of three rounds of voting.
12 become 4 and then 2
After all 12 artists have performed, the voting opens for the first time. On each round, everyone will have three votes in total to give out for their favourites. After the first round, four artists will qualify to the next round.
When the result is ready, all twelve artists gather on stage in two groups. First six and then the other six to guaranteed the necessary distances. The four artists who are called up advance to the next round.
For the second round the votes are reset and the voters will get new three votes that they can distribute across the four artists as they wish. The songs are not performed live on this round of voting. The two with the most votes on this round go on to the gold duel.
In the gold duel, both artists will perform again, before the evening’s final vote starts. Once again, the votes will reset and three new votes are given.
The artist with the most votes in the gold duel is the winner of the Melodi Grand Prix 2021 and will represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

The final is made up of six pre-qualifiers chosen by a professional jury, five acts chosen by viewers over five semi-finals, plus an additional viewers wildcard choice, selected last Monday.
