🇱🇹 The Roop claim Eurovision staging will be ‘completely different’ from national final

The Roop will take full advantage of the technology available at AHOY

Back in February, The Roop won Pabandom iš Naujo 2021 by a landslide with “Discoteque”. Despite their winning performance being both polished and well-received, the band are teasing that their performance will be ‘completely different’ in Rotterdam.

Speaking to 15 Minutes, the Roop have explained the differences between the technical capabilities of the AHOY stage and LRT Studios regarding visuals, cameras, lighting options, etc. In light of this, they teased that fans will see a ‘completely different’ show in Rotterdam, with a lot of visual changes to the performance.

Back in March, LRT created a purpose-built stage in Vilnius to host the live-on-tape recordings for both The Roop and Germany’s Jendrik. For this performance, the brand recreated their styling from the music video and national final performance.

The exact changes will be revealed when The Roop take to the AHOY stage for their first rehearsals in Rotterdam on the morning of May 8.

About The Roop

The pop-rock group from Vilnius won the ticket to represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 on their second attempt, having previously entered the national selection in 2018 with the song “Yes, I Do” coming third. With “On Fire”, the group came out on top in a very competitive 8-act final – winning both the jury and the televote by a considerable margin.

Although they were not automatically re-selected for 2021, they were granted an invitation to the final from the Lithuanian broadcaster. With “Discoteque”, they almost doubled their total votes from 2020 with a landslide 68,000 lead on second-place Gebrasy. They also received top scores from the whole jury.

They will open the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest by performing “Discoteque” first in semi-final one, the first Eurovision performance since Miki’s “La Venda”, which closed the 2019 Grand Final.
