Rotterdam 2021🇱🇻 Latvia

🇱🇻 Aminata announced as Latvian spokesperson for Eurovision 2021

She was the spokesperson for the Baltic nation back in 2017

The return of the Eurovision Song Contest this year will usher in the great tradition of former participants joining the festivities from their own nations. Last week, it was revealed that Eurovision 2015 fan favourite Aminata Savadogo will be this year’s spokesperson for Latvia.

LTV have revealed to our friends over at Eurovoix that Aminata will present the points of the Latvian jury at the 2021 Grand Final this Saturday. She had previously been the spokesperson for the 2017 final. This won’t be her sole contribution to the contest this year however, as she was part of the creative process behind Samanta Tina’s “The Moon Is Rising”.

You can check out the other confirmed spokespeople here.

Aminata at Eurovision

Aminata represented Latvia at Eurovision 2015 with the song “Love Injected”. She brought Latvia to the Grand Final for the first time in seven years, finishing sixth with 186 points. This remains their last top 10 placing to date and best result since 2005.

As a songwriter, she has had a hand in multiple Latvian entries. She wrote the song “Heartbeat” for Justs, who went on to finish 15th in Stockholm in 2016. This was Latvia’s most recent Grand Final appearance.

Having worked with Samanta Tina on her 2020 entry “Still Breathing”, Aminata was part of the songwriting camp for Samanta’s 2021 entry “The Moon Is Rising”. Samanta and her team wrote 11 potential entries during her songwriting camp this summer, consulting both Aminata and Kārlis Būmeistars (Valters & Kaža, 2005).
