TONIGHT: Semi-finalists’ live-on-tape performances revealed

The Eurovision Song Contest Celebration begins tonight!

The 2021 Eurovision Song Contest may be over, but the festivities haven’t ended just yet. With all 39 acts recording live-on-tape performances in the event of them not being able to travel to Rotterdam, the EBU has a treat for us. In two special presentations, the live-on-tape performances will be premiered, with the exception of the UK and Ireland’s.

The Eurovision Song Contest Celebration shows will premiere on the official Eurovision YouTube channel tonight (Friday 28 May) and tomorrow (Saturday 29 May). The show will be presented by Krista Siegfrids and will feature submissions from Eurovision fans.

Although we saw Montaigne’s live-on-tape as part of the official semi-final one broadcast, she will still be included in tonight’s show. Further, according to Eurovision.tv, Ireland’s live-on-tape performance will not be shown tonight. Lesley decided that the performance she delivered in Rotterdam is the version she wants fans to remember. The UK’s James Newman also opted for this option, and so his live-on-tape will not be shown tomorrow. Both artists will still feature in the shows, however.

Ever since I saw Helena Paparizou's triumph at Eurovision in 2005 (at the tender age of 6), I have been crazy about Eurovision. From the regional native language bops and shrieky female-led balladry to the sophisticated avant garde pop songs and chart-friendly EDM, I love everything about this cultural phenomenon. I'm currently working as a Delivery Manager in a software development team.
