Wiktoria – ‘EXPOSED’
Next up with new music for us is three time Melodifestivalen star Wiktoria. Earlier this year the singer and Moana Swedish dubs voice actor released the emotional ballad ‘Need You To Know’. Which features on Wiktoria’s 10 song debut album. All it took was a global pandemic and finally after years of fan requests, the long awaited album is here! Also on the album are ‘Me‘ and ‘We Don’t Talk‘ which we have covered in past articles. Here we are, ahem… exposed to the best of Wiktoria and her story as an artist. With her soul-pop vocal rhythm flowing throughout. While ‘We Don’t Talk’ and ‘Come To Me (64567)’ add some grit and shows what a versatile singer she is.
Daniel Oliver – ‘Jaded’
Earlier this year, Söngvakeppnin star Daniel Oliver treated us to ‘Feels Like Home’, the first teaser of his upcoming debut album. Now he returns with the follow up single, ‘Jaded’. Not jaded for the 80s, Daniel takes the listener on another retro experience that is perfect for any DeLorean road trip! With the full breadth of his falsetto, dancing through what he self describes as “neon lit, 80s inspired synthpop”, Daniel tells an uplifting anthem about love that we can relate to. The song is co-written by Daniel himself. Along with Scandipop’s own music maestro Karl Batterbee, and Von Arbin – who also produced the single.
YouNotUs x Michael Schulte – ‘Bye Bye Bye’
So, who had Michael Schulte bringing an EDM banger to New Music Friday? Well mark it on your bingo cards as it has happened! Just what the Summer ordered, Germany’s 2018 Eurovision star Michael Schulte teams up with YouNotUs. YouNotUs are a DJ duo from Berlin made up of Tobias Bogdon and Gregor Sahm. Many will be familiar with them from their 2015 smash hit, ‘Supergirl‘. This fun track sees Michael craving some downtime as he reflects on the demands of a jet set lifestyle. Adelén – ‘Obsessed’
We were obsessed with ‘Bombo’ during Melodi Grand Prix 2013. Now the Spanish-Norwegian singer is fresh out of lockdown and showing Norwegian pop how it’s done again in her latest comeback. Recently Adelén spoke out with refreshing honest on the ups and downs of growing up in what can be a cut-throat industry for young artists seen as marketable commodities. However as an adult woman herself and years of growth, we see that development more ever present in her artistry. ‘Obsessed’ is very reminiscent of ‘Sweet But Psycho’ with heavier EDM leanings as she sings of being mesmerised by someone that has gotten through call and message blocking.
