New Music Friday – this week with Duncan Laurence, Hurricane, Benjamin Ingrosso & more!

Ten of the best new songs from Eurovision artists!

Helena Paparizou, Levianth – ‘Lightning’

Always our number one on New Music Friday, Eurovision 2005 winner Helena Paparizou shares her latest single today. After great success at the start of the year with new album, Apohrosis, she teams up with Greek bass DJ and producer, Levianth for a new direction in music with ‘Lightning’. Together they blend Helena’s atmospheric vocals into a symphony of anthemic hard bass beats and electronics. If you thought these beats weren’t strong enough, there is also a Club Mix, which will be the centerpeice of Helena’s performance at MadWalk 2021. Away from music it was also announced last week, that Helena had become the first ever Greek ambassador for UNICEF!

Barbara Pravi – ‘Les prières – racines’ (EP)

Before even thinking about participating in Eurovision 2021, Barbara Pravi released the emotional EP – Les prières. Now after achieving France’s best result in the contest since 1991 with second place for ‘Voilà‘, Barbara is back with part two. Coming full circle, Les prières – racines is a six-piece collection of Barbara’s personal stories. Thus these songs are a thank you to life and close out the chapter on 2021 with her powerful French chansons.

Westlife – ‘Wild Dreams’ (Album)

Earlier this month, Nicky Byrne and his Westlife bandmates released the latest single, ‘My Hero‘ from new 12th studio album, Wild Dreams. After a long wait, finally the dream album is released today. The deluxe edition includes 11-tracks, as well as four live versions of their most famous singles performed Live at the Ulster Hall. Overall the album is a nice blend of what the guys do best, soulful ballads for the heart, as well as fresh pop anthems that fans new and old can enjoy together.

This album means more to us than anything we have done before and has been inspired by the challenges we’ve all overcome over the last 18 months. The maze of emotions we all experienced during the pandemic drew us to songwriting and has helped us create a really special album that we have everything we love in music – it’s got fresh feel-good uptempo tracks like Starlight as well as powerful, heartfelt ballads such as Always With Me.

Lisa Bird

My first Eurovision memory was watching 1994 as a hatchling. I've been tapping my talons to the bops and bangers from Europe and beyond ever since! I finally spread my wings to attending the contest in Lisbon 2018 and am now a regular at many events and national finals - especially my regular nest at Eesti Laul.
