Aminata is a great performer and vocalist, and I feel like “I’m letting you go” would definitely give her an opportunity to shine on stage. It’s a powerful ballad, and my second favourite to win and represent Latvia at Eurovision (only after Eat Your Salad, just for the chaos). In all seriousness, this would of course be Latvia’s opportunity to make a good comeback, but they’re not quite there yet. The song takes a long time to build up and while the final chorus blows you away, it might lose some votes from regular viewers who don’t actively listen to a song for the full 3 minutes. It needs a more intense buildup, but somehow I feel like a revamp could easily provide us with that. In any case, a very impressive entry in Latvia’s national final this year! I’m looking forward to the performance already.

If I had to sum this is up in a sentence, it would definitely be: a strongly performed, heartfelt ballad. This is a great entry from Aminata, but it doesn’t feel quite ready for the Eurovision stage. I think it needs a “wow” moment, and I just can’t find that in the song. It feels like a one-tone ballad, which doesn’t usually work. You need something to capture the audience or it could simply get lost in a stacked running order. I worry this would be a case of a popular song that gets left behind in the semi-finals by the popular vote. Regardless, this is miles better than “Love Injected” – which I was absolutely NOT a fan of!
