Marius Bear to represent Switzerland with “Boys Do Cry”?

Official announcement coming tomorrow

Ahead of tomorrow’s official announcement, the Swiss newspaper Blick speculates who might represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Currently the strongest clues lead to Marius Bear, who is set to relase a new song “Boys Do Cry” tomorrow.

Who is Marius Bear?

28-year-old Marius Bear won the Swiss Music Award for Best Talent in 2019. He also released his debut album Not Loud Enough the same year. In 2020, he released the cover of Whitney Houston‘s classic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” after performing it on the TV show I Can See Your Voice. The cover currently has over 3.4 million streams on Spotify. Recently he has released the singles “Evergreen” and “Roses“.

Marius is set to release his next album Boys Do Cry at the end of March. Rumor has it that he will also represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with song with the same name. According to several sources, the song is 2 minutes and 56 seconds long, meaning it’s just perfect for Eurovision. It is also set to be released on Tuesday, which is not the typical day for artists to release music. The lyrics database Genius also has the song under Eurovision Song Contest 2022 album already. The Eurovision duties would also fit perfectly to his tour schedule. After his performance on April 28th in Winterthur, he is set to take a break from touring for several weeks.

The Swiss Eurovision news site Douzepoints.ch also believe that Marius will fly the Swiss flag in Turin. They report that on Instagram, Marius has shown himself filming with Jean-Marc Richard, the Eurovision commentator from French-speaking broadcaster in Switzerland.

Switzerland will announce their representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 tomorrow, on March 8th. In Turin, the country will compete in the first semi-final of the contest on May 10th. Switzerland is set to perform on the first half of the show.
