Mahmood & Blanco to perform 9th in the Eurovision 2022 Grand Final

The running order position was drawn at the Heads of Delegation meeting

Italy has drawn its position in the running order for the 2022 Grand Final. It is customary for the host entry to randomly draw their running order position during the Heads of Delegation meeting.

The EBU has confirmed that the host nation of Eurovision 2022 – Italy – will perform in 9th in the Grand Final. This is the position that was randomly drawn for Mahmood and Blanco at the Heads of Delegation meeting.

The position was randomly selected by Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, Martin Österdahl, during the Head of Delegation meeting in Turin, Italy. Last year, Jeangu Macrooy performed 23rd in the 2021 Grand Final, having had the position drawn at the 2020 Heads of Delegation meeting.

Ever since I saw Helena Paparizou's triumph at Eurovision in 2005 (at the tender age of 6), I have been crazy about Eurovision. From the regional native language bops and shrieky female-led balladry to the sophisticated avant garde pop songs and chart-friendly EDM, I love everything about this cultural phenomenon. I'm currently working as a Delivery Manager in a software development team.
