Turin 2022🇮🇹 Italy

Details of Eurovision edit for “Brividi” confirmed

The final chorus has been cut down to fit the EBU's 3-minute rule.

Back in February, Mahmood & Blanco won the 72nd edition of Festival di Sanremo, with a convincing 52% of the Superfinal vote. However, with the Sanremo version clocking in at 3:19, 19 seconds have to be chopped off for the song to be Eurovision eligible.

Eurovision.tv have confirmed the lyrics for the version of “Brividi” that will be performed by Mahmood and Blanco at the Grand Final of Eurovision 2022 on May 14.

In the profile for the entry, it has been revealed that the final chorus has been shortened in order to fit the EBU’s 3-minute rule.

The lyrics for the final chorus are as follows:

Nudo con i brividi
a volte non so esprimermi
e ti vorrei amare, ma sbaglio sempre
e mi vengono i brividi, brividi, brividi

In the Sanremo version, which is the current streaming version, the final chorus was as follows:

Nudo con i brividi
a volte non so esprimermi
e ti vorrei amare, ma sbaglio sempre
e ti vorrei rubare un cielo di perle
e pagherei per andar via,
Accetterei anche una bugia
e ti vorrei amare ma sbaglio sempre
e mi vengono i brividi, brividi, brividi

The edit has not yet been released, but it will likely feature on the official Eurovision 2022 soundtrack, which is due to be released on April 22.

Mahmood & Blanco at Eurovision 2022

Back in February, Mahmood & Blanco won the 72nd edition of Festival di Sanremo, with a convincing 52% of the Superfinal vote, compared to runner-up Elisa’s 26%. This comes just three years after Mahmood won the 69th edition with “Soldi” back in 2019.

Shortly after their victory, it was confirmed that “Brividi” will be Italy’s host entry, as the winning entry of Sanremo gets first refusal for the ticket to Eurovision. To fit the contest into his calendar, Blanco even rescheduled his 2022 tour!

As is customary, the host entry’s running order position was randomly drawn during the Heads of Delegation meeting last month. Mahmood & Blanco will perform in 9th position in the 2022 Grand Final on May 14.
