New Music Friday – this week with Rosa Linn, Duncan Laurence, Kalush Orchestra, The Rasmus and more!

Ten of the best new songs from Eurovision artists!

Amanda Tenfjord – ‘In Hindsight’ (Album)

Since Turin, Amanda Tenfjord has qualified as a Doctor and released a string of singles that would also cure many ills, including a duet with Evangelia, as well as ‘Plans‘ and ‘All In‘. Now the much-awaited debut album ‘In Hindsight’ is out to showcase the range of Amanda’s potential in her music journey. As the title suggests, the album is a moment of self reflection telling the ups and downs of Amanda’s life that listeners can relate to. From the uplifting ‘This is what it feels like’ to the brooding ‘Long time’. Next year fans can experience the album live during the European Tour.

Ninajirachi & Montaigne – ‘One Long Firework In The Sky’

Fresh from releasing third album ‘Making It!’, Australia’s Eurovision 2020 and 2021 representative, Montaigne returns this week with more new music. This time she teams up with fellow Triple J discovery and like-minded music maestro Ninajirachi. Together they embrace their passion for hyperactive production and varying layers of music textures in this future-bass symphony of instrumentation that encapsulates the euphoric feelings of physical connection.

It’s such a privilege to work with Nina who I think shares a lot of the same sensibilities as me and who I get along with fabulously. This song was written after sitting on the floor chatting for about 5 hours and in the last 2, we continued to sit on the floor using just her laptop keyboard, built-in speakers, and iPhone voice memos to record the whole demo. It was so much fun. It’s very different songwriting to what I’ve done in the past, which is exciting for me to debut. Possibly the only horny song I’ve ever written and loving it.

LouLou LaMotte (The Mamas) – ‘Miljonär’

Ahead of the launch of Melodifestivalen 2023, the rumoured participant list is already shape. One name high on the list is LouLou LaMotte, better known as one third of The Mamas – who tasted success with victory in the 2020 edition and as part of John Lundvik’s backing vocalists in the Tel Aviv contest. Now branching out as a solo artist, LouLou releases ‘Miljonär’ a retro inspired track laced with a power vocal that rouses that millionaire feeling of being settled in life.

Millionaire in this case is not tied to money. When I wrote this text, I had love and joy in my mind. Who doesn’t want one’s life to be romantic and “perfect”. You can be in a relationship and still lack happiness or feel unloved and alone. Because life is not always easy.
