BBC today revealed that renowned multi-BAFTA award-winning actress and comedian, Catherine Tate will be their spokesperson in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest. She will deliver the results of the UK Jury live from Liverpool Arena on Saturday for the Grand Final.
Who is Catherine Tate?
Catherine Tate is perhaps best known to audiences as Donna Noble in the “Doctor Who” franchise, but also for roles that showcase her quirky comedic performances, including the leading woman in the comedy, “The Catherine Tate Show” and as Nellie Bertram on the U.S. comedy television series “The Office”. Catherine will also feature in the BBC comedy series, Queen of Oz, which is expected in 2023.
In previous years, the UK has had its slew of famous spokespeople announcing the UK’s ‘douze points’, including Nigella Lawson, Cheryl Baker, AJ Odudu and Richard Osman. Catherine will follow in their footsteps on Saturday evening, who may even see the experience as a potential opportunity to one day represent the United Kingdom herself.
“It’s very exciting to be announcing the iconic “douze points” at Eurovision. It’s just a foot in the door really as next year I hope to be the UK entrant!”
