Austria’s hunt for its Eurovision 2025 representative has officially started. The Austrian broadcaster ORF, together with Peter Schreiber, is on the lookout for the next artist to represent the nation in Switzerland. Schreiber has invited musicians from all genres to apply via his Instagram, emphasizing a preference for acts that are exciting, unusual, emotional, original, and authentic.
Artists aiming to represent Austria are encouraged to submit their details, including audio samples or a specific song they wish to perform at Eurovision 2025. The deadline for applications is September 15, 2024, and submissions should be sent directly to Peter Schreiber on Instagram.
Since 2017, Austria has opted for an internal selection process for Eurovision. This method involves multiple rounds of live auditions, assessed by ORF management, members of the Eurovision fan club, and an expert jury. Peter Schreiber, who also runs the YouTube channel AustroZone and works with Vienna’s local cable network W24, has highlighted that submissions need to be serious and qualified. Songs should be under three minutes long and must not have been released or performed live before September 1, 2024, in accordance with Eurovision rules.
Last year, Kaleen represented Austria with her song “We Will Rave,” finishing 24th and earning 24 points. Despite the placement, her performance was a viewer favorite in Austria, drawing an average of over one million viewers during her act.
Eurovision 2025 will take place in Switzerland, and the selected artist will have big shoes to fill as they aim to improve on last year’s performance.
