Silje Nordnes and Mona Berntsen will host the Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 competition, which is set to take place on August 17, 2024, at the Stormen Concert Hall in Bodø, Norway. The event, produced by NRK, will feature eleven young musicians from across Europe competing for top honors in classical music.
Silje Nordnes, a seasoned NRK host, expressed her excitement about leading the event. “It is a great honor to be a host for EYM. The participants are young but at an extremely high level, so I am looking forward to great musical experiences,” she said. Mona Berntsen, a renowned dancer and choreographer making her debut as a television host, shared her enthusiasm: “Leading such a significant event where young performers get an international platform to showcase their talent, dedication, and dreams is a great honor.”
The competition, organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1982, has been a platform for young classical talents. This year’s participants, aged between 12 and 21, represent some of the best classical soloists in Europe. They will perform with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, conducted by Eivind Aadland.
The jury for the competition includes distinguished musicians Tabita Berglund, Marianna Shirinyan, Andreas Sundén, and Martin Grubinger. Their expertise will guide the selection of the winner among the talented young performers.
In addition to the musical performances, the event will highlight the natural beauty of Northern Norway. A boat trip for the participants is planned, and NRK will film this excursion to capture the scenery and the camaraderie among the musicians. This footage will be featured in the broadcast, showcasing the stunning landscapes of the region.
The Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 is part of Bodø2024’s celebrations as the European Capital of Culture. This collaboration aims to provide participants and their delegations with an unforgettable experience that combines musical excellence with cultural exchange.
