Spain in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Back in 2003, Spain made their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Despite a series of top five results, including victory for Maria Isabel in 2004, the nation took an extended break from the contest for 13 years. Since their return in 2019, Spain have continued where they left off. Throughout their nine participations, Spain have only finished outside the top 6 on one occasion.
Last year, Spain internally selected Sandra Valero to represent the country with ‘Loviu’. During the Nice contest, Sandra achieved second place with 201 points. Due to France prioritising their hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as their recent JESC successes, hosting was handed to Spain for this years’ edition.
