While Eurovision broadcasters begin to announce their plans for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2025 taking place in Basel next May, one broadcaster is quashing the rumour mill early as singer and actress JoJo Siwa sent the Eurovision community into a frenzy with hints of a Eurovision participation for Poland next year.
JoJo Siwa’s Eurovision dream over before it begins?
In a recent TikTok video posted by Siwa, Eurovision fans fuelled speculation by suggesting the Polish-American singer should represent her ancestral homeland at next years’ contest in Basel, Switzerland. This came after JoJo’s latest hit, ‘Yesterday’s Tomorrow’s Today’ began trending in Poland for its ‘Disco Polo’ production which is a popular sound in Polish music. What initially started as a playful, ‘yes’ in response, became viral news across the internet. This gathered further momentum when JoJo claimed she had been ‘in talks’ over a possible participation for Poland.
Eurovision is into it. We are talking to the people in Poland, because each country essentially decides who goes to Eurovision to represent that country […] I have a project that I’m actually committed to when Eurovision is happening but I might be able to make both work if Poland wants me to. If Poland wants me to represent, I will be there.I will make it happen, 1000%!.
However, while JoJo Siwa has been enjoying her newfound fame in Poland and promoting the success of her new single, TVP the national broadcaster of Poland has responded to the Eurovision rumours. In a statement seen by BBC Newsbeat, TVP has confirmed that no talks have taken place with any artists in regards to Eurovision 2025. Currently, TVP has yet to announce its participation and plans for the Basel contest.
The 21-year-old found fame at an early age through the popular TV series Dance Moms. Siwa went on to become a star of the screen featuring in various Nickelodeon shows and feature films before branching out into music with her first single, ‘Boomerang’ in 2016.
